Food: Rubio's fresh mex. It's a chain, but really good and a healthier choice than most places. Chago's. Its a small mexican restaurant near the 32nd street Naval Base that has the best California Burritos I have ever had. It is my favorite food item.

Desserts: Cheesecake Factory. Also a chain, but I love cheesecake so that is always a good chocie. Also, D'Lush smoothies is great. Both of these places are at Fashion Valley Mall.

Sightseeing: Downtown (shopping at the mall, restaurants and bars, Petco Park for a Padres game). The Zoo. SeaWorld can be fun if you have kids, but I wasn't a huge fan of this SeaWorld. The beach. Balboa Park is also a nice place to walk around and there are some museums up there.

For Desserts you definitely want to try Extraordinary Desserts.

Most people visiting San Diego visiting one or more of the major attractions: the zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Lego Land, and the museums and gardens of Balboa Park.

There are also lots of great outdoor activities if you are into being active. My favorite is kayaking through the caves in La Jolla or handgliding off the cliffs (also in La Jolla). There's jet ski rentals in Mission Bay, bay cruises, hiking, biking, beach bonfires and so many other fun things.

Head to Old Town for Mexican food. My favorite is Cafe Coyote, but there are lots of choices. Jack and Julios (also in Old Town) is wonderful Italian food. Best view of the San Diego skyline and a wonderful upscale restaurant is Bertrand Mister As. For dining with a firsthand view of the sunset, make reservations at Georges Outdoor Terrace Bistro in La Jolla.
