What are the best restaurants with a view. I'm looking for good food and ambiance. The restaurant can be in any price range.

Try the Ocean Terrace at Georges at the Cove. Great food and great view! Call ahead for seating.

I agree with Georges - the top of the restaurant one (inside is very expensive).
Also there are several restaurants in Seaport Village downtown. Yes they are touristy and a bit overpriced but they have great views of the harbor and coronado island. Peohe's on coronado I have found to be inconsistent but has a good view.
Going north, rubys on the pier in Oceanside is great - cheap and a great experience. We always take out of town folks there.
Also in La Jolla there are lots of non view cheaper restaurants you can eat at and then walk around the gorgeous area and "seal" beach. Its a great way to spend a morning or afternoon.

Bertrand Mister A's is a wonderful upscale restaurant with a great view of the downtown area and beyond. Great service and delicious food as well!
My favorite for watching the sunset would George's Outdoor Terrace Bistro in La Jolla. Make reservations to dine while the sun is setting for a truly spectacular show! Casual and overlooking the gorgeous La Jolla Cove.
